Professional development is a series of events that provides young professionals with unparalleled opportunities to access community and business leaders while offering up-and-coming young leaders a chance to develop new skills and acquire resources and knowledge necessary to engage in their community.

Roundtable Series - offers young professionals the chance to meet with top leaders from across the Kansas City community in different industries and career paths. These highly accomplished and influential leaders will share their unique experiences and expertise, providing invaluable insights to help young professionals build and grow their careers.

What to expect from a genKC event? A genKC signature event is an opportunity to network with over 300+ young professionals in the Kansas City area. Young professionals are able to gain access to some of the hottest venues in town and exposure to community leaders. These events typically sell out fast!

genKC believes in supporting and collaborating with other reputable organizations. Through collaboration, YPs are able to learn about other organizations and young professionals, and make valuable connections. genKC has collaborated with various organizations: Young Friends of Arts, BARRE KC, Athena League and many others.

Community Involvement

genKC supports the goals and mission of the Kansas City Chamber of Commerce and its Big 5 initiative. genKC is a firm believer in giving back to the community – for 2015 genKC has devoted over 3,500 volunteered hours with local nonprofit and civic organizations. One of genKC’s goals for the year is to support the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce’s Big 5 initiative of early childhood education. 

Breakfast, Books & Buddies – A genKC initiated program where volunteers bring breakfast to students at Faxon Elementary and spend the morning reading together during their before-school program. This popular volunteer opportunity has groups attending monthly for the next 6 months and growing.
